My social media nigthmare : Facebook and Twitter

I haven't been publishing on the blog lately because I am still in this process of finding the right balance between blogging and working. Sometimes you feel like you have finally found your rythm but that's not the truth ! My internship is all about being creative and always finding new ideas hence no fordism here ! Whilst I can't say I am bored by it I noticed my neurones are working more than ever. When before I could concentrate on my studies and a minute after closing a book just caring about something else, right now it is rather if not totally impossible. I've always believed my three years of literary preparatory class to Ecole Normale SupĂ©rieure were basically like a trench warfare since I was ALWAYS studying ( read : no social life, all my friends not doing the same studies were basically scheduling our meet-up just like you would take an appointment for the doctor) but right now I am ALWAYS thinking. So, what's the difference between studying and thinking ? you can take a break whilst doing the former but not when it comes to the latter. You don't choose to think and I would even add you don't choose when you have an idea popping out from your head.

That's precisely the reason why I have been missing here on Incognito, though I keep on having ideas of articles to write for the blog, I seldom have time to gather up all my thoughts and produce something worthy because I am working in a creative environment. I once remembered May of ohmaygod.com giving me advices to keep on blogging whilst fulfilling my internship. One of them was actually when not having time to write posts to be present on social medias which means for me showing I am still alive on Facebook and Twitter
But dear friends did you know ? As much as I suck at everything SEO, statistics, numbers and other things requiring coding skills (definitely not your scientific crazy here) I REALLY suck at everything like Facebook and Twitter. On 2 years of blogging I painfully gathered 192 followers on Facebook and 170 on Twitter (knowing the number of the latter can change at every moment considered people's whim) whilst some fellow bloggers in the same amount of time succeeded in getting more than a hundred even thousands of followers on both of these social medias. This is no blogger FOMO but a matter of fact. And to think that I am currently doing an internship in content & community management (in which the last particule of my internship is the most important), GAG ME !

My "I know I suck at something.." usual face

Social medias are what keep your blog alive when you are not blogging but also what make it grow and having a constant following. If you don't have them it will look like you are blogging for no one to read hence my decision to invite you to follow me on both my uncanny social media channels aka Facebook and Twitter in order to teach me how to be :
- consistant
- interesting
- a good person to converse with
- someone providing cultural info
- someone providing HER vision of fashion

In brief I want to interact with you eventhough I am not necessarly blogging.

So will you help this clumsy girl sharpening her skills at social medias ?

  1. Social media does not come very naturally to me either.... even though I am handling it for a brand now... but the fact remains.. if I handle theirs... I neglect my own. Really trying to change that and get into a rhythm myself. So I can totally understand what you must be going through.

But hey I am sure Shug that you will find a balance soon.... you are in a new phase.. and everybody takes time to adjust. Its natural. But if there is one tip that I can share... about facebook pages is that... for most brands... even a single post a day is enough. No more... just one... and with the new statistics it has become so much easier to know when your fans are online... which type of posts are doing well... facebook's new page insights have been a real life saver...!

    1. Hello Swati !

Social medias require time so I can't even imagine how you handle both yours and the one of the brand you are working for.
Thanks for being understanding. Though I like working and what I do at my internship from time to time I have this thought that if I weren't working I would producing something..but in the other hand I also have this thought that since my internship mixed plenty of things related to blogging, it is good for me. But still I feel like living a digital dilemma.

I hope I will find it soon ! Thanks a lot for your piece of advice about Facebook. And speaking of it I totally agree with you about the fact that now their stats are much more easier to understand therefore the page should be much more easier to use. And I hope like you said that it will be a real life savier ;) !

      See you !

A penny for your thoughts ?! The Ladies of Incognito thank you for giving us the feedback we need to better our blog, and really appreciate it when debates are started about the subjects we chose to talk about.
