Back in January, I discovered the swedish brand Monki. I discovered it thanks to Andy Torres who collaborated with them for a mini TV show (as they have a channel on their site). Since then my way of shopping changed, that is why today I want to tell you about my shopping concept.
When I shop I don't buy because it is a well-known brand. I just do it because I like the clothes, their shapes, their colours, their details etc..that is why I don't have a favourite brand and this is also the reason why I don't shop in a regular way (thinking of it this is certainly better for my wallet..). So I am what you can call an occasional shopper.
I am an occasional shopper at Monki, since I discovered this brand, so far I've only bought one piece there, remember that shirt I bragged about here ? It was only one piece of clothing but it has strongly marked me because of its quality, the magazine I received with it which I totally love, and the Monki site which I regularly visit. I can just hear someone saying that I am not logical in my thinking, didn't I say before that I buy pieces of clothing only because I like it and not because of the brand ? Well, for Monki this is lightly different because this brand has a lifestyle and an aesthetic I can easily relate to. So I may be an occasional shopper of Monki but if there is one thing I know is that I am also one of their loyal shopper (which means that I am totally sure that my credit card will shout again "Monki, Monki, I love you"). Being an occasional and loyal shopper is not incompatible like some could think. It is not incompatible when the brand not only sells you clothes but also provides to feed your brain, and Monki does it perfectly thanks to its magazine and its TV.
I spend a lot of time watching Monki TV. Through it I discovered musicians, new designers, illustrators, bloggers, photographers etc..but what I love the most is to discover what is going on behind the wings of the brand. Have you ever seen the HQ of your favourite brand ? Have you ever pictured how your favourite brand works ? Have you ever imagined being inspired by the sellers of your favourite brand ? Monki does all this.
Here are my two favourite videos by Monki, the first one is called Staff Style and the other one is called TV Summer Sessions, I am not telling what there are about as you just have to watch them to know :

I am definitely an occasional shopper but I transform myself into an occasional loyal shopper when I know that the brand does not only satisfy me with its clothes. To come back and shop there other times I need the X factor that will make me not forget about it. As you can see, in my case, this X factor not only lies in the quality of the clothes, the brand also has to teach me something.
And you, on which basis do you become a loyal shopper of a brand ?

aahh i really love the store tooo!

I love these videos even more because they make you feel like you're actually a part of the staff too in a certain way.

Those are great videos, thank you for sharing. I would have to say that I a loyal shopper, once I find a store or brand that I like, I am always returning to that specific brand, but at the same time, I also like to discover new brands as well.
