It's time for an other Shoot That Thursday and to introduce you to an other female photographer : Elena Maria Atzori.
Photographer : Elena Maria Atzori
Elena site : Tumblr
Why Elena Maria Atzori ? Elena is part of these photographers that make a lot of self portraits. That is how I discovered her and that is also why I love her so much. Just like it is difficult for people to pose for someone, I think it is the same for photographers when it comes to self portraits because it reveals a part of their personality . As for me it is really interesting because it helps me figure out their aesthetic but also reflecting on myself. If a self portrait is a mirror for the one who shot it, for me it is also a mirror for the viewer because we also project ourselves on others. I mean that when watching other people we can easily relate to ourselves simply because we are human beings.
Elena has a really particular face with strong lines and short hair, she is very androgyne, something I appreciate a lot. She really knows how to play with her face and uses her androgyny to make the most feminine and charming pictures ever. You can see what I mean by visiting her site or simply clicking here.
What I am seeing. I did not choose to show you a self portrait of Elena but instead I decided to introduce you to the way she pictures people, how she makes a portrait because she has her own way to do it. Just like this one they are all close-up portraits in which she adds a very fashionable twist to them. I think Elena really loves fashion and likes to reinterpret it in her images. Remember that fashion photography is a little bit far from my aesthetic right ? With Elena I can't help but to love her pictures because she adds emotions.
This picture is called the "Angry Maddalena". I like the expression of anger here. This is not something excessive like you would expect it to be : you know something like she would cry and/or shout with her make-up falling apart. Instead the model has her hands in her hair and is lightly frowning. I have never seen such a beautiful depiction of anger before. The make-up is perfect. No doubt that this picture is a fashion one. On the visible hand, we can see a ring which is, in my opinion, as important as the face of the model : it is the fashionable element of the photo while the model embodies the anger. And voilĂ this how you can make a fashionable and moving picture !

yes I really like fashion and I appreciate what you wrote.
