This Friday, let me present you (not just) another great duo of DJs: The Twelves.
Radiohead, The Virgins, or Yelle, Kylie Minogue and La Roux. The brasilian duo The Twelves mastered the art of inspiring great pre-existing pieces with a new vibe by adding the right amount of funk. They don’t just put some sounds on top of the original song, like bad DJs do. They take into account the qualities of the original and enhence them with funky rhythms and a solid bass line. The perfect example would be the excellents remix of I’m Not Gonna Teach Him How To Dance With You by The Black Kids.
They chose a song by The Black Kids and kept the original voice with those awesome lyrics. The instrumental was too busy and messy so they created a catchy melody based on the voice and added a funky rhythm.
Mood of the song: Picture yourself at a house party with a lot of really cool and different people chilling and making great conversations out of existencial questions.
If you’re a girl, your wearing an electric blue oversized blazer on a white U-neck top tucked in a black tube skirt. You’re holding a studded black clutch in one hand and your vodka sunrise in the other.
If you’re a guy, you’re wearing a vintage waistcoat on a T-shirt; a pegged chino and brown loafers.
