Each Monday, Incognito lets you in its dressing room. Today we prepared for you a look that is halfway between the United Kingdon and Japan.
Task of the day : Incorporate my Dr.Martens and my vintage haori to my usual look. An haori is a short jacket wore upon a kimono, initially this garment was made for men but around 1868 it began to be a part of the women's wardrobe. I bought this vintage piece in the kimonoya I spoke you about in this post.
Each time I see this pair of Dr.Martens it reminds me of my years in highschool. This is exactly for this reason that I didn't take off the laces that I put during this time to personalize them.
How beautiful is this haori ! When I see it, I can't help but thinking that there is probably few people that own such a unique piece in their dressing room. When I bought it, it never crossed my mind to wear it another way than as a dress, but this was until a friend asked me "why don't you wear it like a jacket ? " My answer to this question was really similar to this "...". Indeed as I told you I only thought of wearing it as a dress whereas the original function of a haori is to be a jacket, how dumb of me !
I guess it is enough for the talking, let's have a look to the photos' outfit :
This first attempt didn't convince me, I had the impression that something was missing, that is why I thought of including a new piece :
So what do you think of my final choice ?
